After a week of dry weather we were finally able to access some stiles that are a distance from the road. Reports had been received by the County Council of rotten stile problems on Footpath 37 which runs from Milwich (Primrose Cottage) to the Darley Lane bridleway. This footpath is only 750 metres long but has 10 stiles and a gate along its route. The main problems were two stiles about halfway along the path and accessible across two fields from Potmans Lane.
A small team (of one) replaced the posts and step tops on these two stiles. One of the stiles was also a little loose so this was reinforced to buy some time until it can be replaced. The results can be seen in the photos below but no ‘Selfie’ you will be pleased to see.
- Step very poor condition
- New posts and step installed
- Posts look good above ground but rotten below
- New step and posts installed on next stile
