After our first planned session of 2013 was buried under feet of snow, we have started the season with a beautiful morning. Sunday dawned fine and dry, a real “Spring” morning!
For over a year now, the first stile on the path from Milwich to Dayhills has been in a poor condition.
Ground conditions around the stile have been far too wet for nearly a year and it is only in the last week that conditions have improved sufficiently for us to work in this area.
It is a well used path, only the day before there was a party of 10 scouts using the route on their way to Kibblestone Camp for the night.
A small team of volunteers set about removing the stile and then digging out the holes for the new stile.
The extent of the rotten wood can be seen from this picture, taken during a coffee break. After this we quickly installed the steps, and re-instated the railings. All that remained was to install the dog gate and renew any signage and we were done.
A good mornings work and time for a couple of pints at the Green Man.
