A bright and very warm summers day so not a day for hard labour. Add to this the fact that only Richard and Paul were available meant it was a good day to catch up on many of the smaller tasks around the parish. Recently reports of overgrown stiles causing difficulties with some of our walks added to the need to do some clearing.
After loading up the car we visited about 20 stiles around the area.
The first task was to replace a finger post at Garshall Green farm. It was held in place by the hedge and some binder twine. It did not take long and we had a new post in place.
We then traveled around, replacing or repairing steps on stiles and clearing overgrown stiles. At one point we were driving along looking for a stile on each side of the road and we missed them completely. When we did find them, the vegetation covered the finger posts as well as the stiles.
At the end of a good morning’s work, the pint at The Green Man was most welcome!
