A group of enthusiastic volunteers have joined together to help maintain the Public Footpath network in
and around Milwich. We started in February 2011 and now at the start of 2012 we have 12 volunteers.

Staffordshire County Council (SCC) has responsibility for the maintenance of Rights of Way across the County. They have in the past been very responsive when they are notified of problems, however their resources are spread thinly and therefore some problems remain far longer than we would desire. As a result, they encourage parishes to set up their own voluntary groups and then they work together with these groups to enable problems to be rectified quickly.
A full footpath survey has been undertaken in Milwich Parish. This has resutled in a large list of jobs, many of them minor in nature. SCC provide all the materials, tools, training and even protective equipment. Working with the SCC Volunteer co-ordinator, the Milwich team have been trained and are now preparing a programme of work through the coming months.
The goal is to get out and enjoy ourselves in the countryside whilst maintaining the paths which many of us enjoy walking on a regular basis. Why not join us? Contact us and then come along to a session and see if it is for you.
