Milwich & District Produce Guild

In March, we welcomed back Graham and Judy White, who gave us an illustrated talk entitled “God’s Many Gardens.”   We’d visited their garden at Uttoxeter a few years ago, and it was interesting to see how it had grown and developed.  The garden is listed in the Yellow book, so visits can be arranged.

On 23rd May, we visit The Garth, at Milford.  Will members please meet at 7pm.  Cost is £5 each, including refreshments.

On June 27th, we look forward to a return visit from Derek Higgott, who will talk on  “Proper Pruning Practices and Propagation”,  hopefully to include information which members will find beneficial throughout the growing season.

On 25thJuly, we visit Idlerock Farm, at Spot Acre. Meeting at 7pm, cost to be £5, including refreshments.

Our meetings are usually held at All Saints’ Village Hall on the fourth Thursday of the month, beginning at 8pm.  Visitors always welcome.  For further information, please contact Mike Baggaley on 01889 270161 or m_baggaley@btinternet.com

Green Lea Nursery and Wraparound Care

Firstly I must say a big thank you to everybody that took part in the Easter extravaganza, the afternoon was full of fun, crafts and chocolate, the Easter bonnets that were entered in to the parade were absolutely amazing, we have some very creative children (and parents) and as always the Easter egg hunt was a great success, it was lovely to see everybody working together and helping the younger nursery children, now that’s what I call team work. A very special thank you to FOGL who organized the event, the parents who helped out before, during and after the event, and to Mrs Wilson and her staff for allowing the children out of lessons to enjoy this afternoon full of fun.
This half term is a very short one, only 4 weeks long so we will be focusing on our outdoor activities and have lots of things planned, from gardening to water and sand play to designing a new play ground mosaic using chalk. We will also be using the parachute for music and movement as well as den making. We are also hoping to have some tadpoles for us to watch grow and change, learning the life circle of frogs. I have my fingers crossed that the weather will be kind to us.
Green Lea School has had a record number of pupils apply for places in September, this is great news in securing the future of the school/nursery, so many rural schools are closing due to low pupil numbers, and yet Green Lea is going from strength to strength. Mrs Wilson has lots of big plans for the school and nursery…so watch this space!
And finally nursery is now full on a Friday, and we only have very limited places on the other days, We would advise anybody who is interested in the nursery contact us as soon as possible to secure a place.
Green Lea Nursery offers the 30 hours funding (subject to criteria) we are also signed up to the tax free child care scheme, please see a member of staff for more information.
Green Lea Nursery runs Monday-Friday, sessions are 9.00am-1.30pm or 9.00am-3.00pm. Green Lea wraparound care sessions are 7.30am-9.00am and/or 3.00pm-5.45pm (term time only) for any further information please contact 07974 719522 or 01889 505309.
