Milwich W I Report
Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
Christmas came early to Milwich when members celebrated by joining the “Milwich Male Voice”, six gallant gentlemen, who sang favourite carols and by listening to Christmas texts and poems read by members. Refreshments supplied by members, with a glass or two of mulled wine, encouraged the evening to go with good Christmas cheer.
For the January meeting members once again entertained each other with funny stories and poems. Thanks to all who helped with these two meetings.
On February 13th Mr Brian Morris will be telling members about “A Childs Life in Victorian Era”
We welcome visitors to happy informative evenings, further information is available from Helen Hocknell on 01889 505717
Green Lea Nursery and wraparound care
What a great start to the new year and our new term, all the children, both new and returning have settled back into the nursery routine with ease. This term our theme is the rain forest, and the first half term we will be learning about the climate and plants that grow within the rain forest, especially the coco bean which is an ingredient in chocolate…YUM!! We have lots of chocolatey goodies to make in our cookery sessions, as well as more healthy recipes using the abundance of fruit and spices that also grow in there. We will be making rain gauges and measuring the rain fall here in Milwich and comparing that with rain fall in the rain forest, which is a great way for all the children to use numbers, measurement and maths. Our children have also been making rainmakers, which we have been using both at song time as well as music and movement sessions. Our hope is that the children learn how important the rain forest is to the whole world, and in a child friendly way we can start to teach the children about ways we can all do our little bit to help protect the lovely plants and animals that live there.
Not all our time will be taken up by the rain forest, we also will be celebrating Chinese new year, which this year is the year of the pig, I am sure we will have lots of lovely Chinese food to taste and possible be cooking some of our own, as well as trying out chopsticks and learning the lion dance, which is a traditional Chinese dance performed on special occasions. We also have lots of crafts planned for Valentine’s Day, so we can show the people closest to us just how much we love them.
February half term is Monday 18th – Friday 22nd, we return back to nursery on Monday 25th February 2019.
Green Lea Nursery offers the 30 hours funding (subject to criteria) we are also signed up to the tax free child care scheme, please see a member of staff for more information.
Green Lea Nursery runs Monday-Friday, sessions are 9.00am-1.30pm or 9.00am-3.00pm. Green Lea wraparound care sessions are 7.30am-9.00am and/or 3.00pm-5.45pm (term time only) for any further information please contact 07974 719522
