Milwich W I Report November 2018
Milwich W I welcomed the Chartley Group to the meeting on October 29th when we were entertained by Maureen Taylor who was dressed in an authentic 16th Century outfit. Her talk was entitled “Garderobes, Grime and Leeches”, in other words toilets from the 16th Century and the disposing of their contents. Not a pleasant subject, however Maureen gave members many amusing anecdotes and it was unanimously agreed that life in the 21st Century is preferable in that everything is so much cleaner and more hygienic. Our lives now are greatly extended due to our health service and our general well-being,
Kath Reynolds delighted members with her talk “to Love and to Cherish”. She talked about weddings from the 1940’s to present day and how fashions have changed especially the dresses and bouquets. Many of the traditions and rhymes connected to the celebrations were compared and members giggled as memories were shared. Some of the celebrity photographs were very amusing and as members had brought their Wedding albums and photographs it was fun trying to recognise each other!
The December meeting on December 12th will be a Christmas celebration, friends and family being invited. There will be entertainment and refreshments being supplied by members.
January will also be in house with members organising the evening.
May I wish you all a very Happy and Healthy Christmas with very best wishes for the New Year.

Milwich & District Produce Guild
Our AGM in October was well supported. All 7 officers were re-elected, along with two other committee members. After the business was concluded, we enjoyed our usual social evening. Hyacinth bulbs were available (FOC), to encourage new exhibitors to the Hyacinth Show in February.
The Christmas Party will be held in the Village Hall on December 13th. Tickets are available from Celia on 01889 505783, at a special price of £10 each. Marvellous value for such an entertaining evening.
On January 24th, we welcome Judy Hubble, who will talk on Shugborough Hall.
Members are reminded to keep checking their bulbs for the Hyacinth Show on February 28th.
Membership fees for the coming year are only £10, which works out at £1 per meeting, with free tea/coffee and biscuits included. This is a one-off price, to encourage new members to join us for an exciting programme of speakers and outside visits planned for 2019.
Our meetings are usually held in All Saints’ Village Hall on the fourth Thursday of the month, beginning at 8pm.

Firstly I would like to begin with a big heartfelt thank you to all the nursery, Green Lea pupils and their families for taking the time to decorate a pebble for remembrance, All the pebbles were on display at All Saints church, Milwich for the service on the 11th November. We had so, so many lovely compliments about our display, it made Claire and myself very proud to have been able to be a part of it.
As always December is a very busy month, we have lots of different crafts planned, and our cookery sessions will be taking on a Christmas theme. Forest schools will be continuing, but as the weather gets colder and wetter can I just remind you that warm clothing and waterproofs are needed. On Tuesday 11th December we will be attending Dick Whittington at the Gatehouse theatre in Stafford, Thursday 13th December we will be performing our lovely Nativity for our family and friends, this year we are holding this at 9.30am, then on 20th December we join the school for our annual Christmas lunch, Green Lea wraparound care will also be holding a disco which is open to the whole school and nursery, and then to top it all off our Christmas party, and if we are all really good, we might even get a special visitor!!
Our theme for next term is the rainforest and we are starting off by looking at the plants that grow there, especially the coco bean that is an ingredient in chocolate…Yummy. We will breaking up for our Christmas break on Friday 21st December which will be Christmas jumper day and everybody is encourage to wear a festive jumper/clothing we then return to school on Tuesday 8th January
So with all that said the staff would like to say a big thank you for all your fantastic support over the last 12 months, we really couldn’t ask for better parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, friends and local community. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas period, have fun, stay safe and see you all ready for more fun in the New Year.
