Milwich W I Report                                                      July 2018

Beautiful Faberge Eggs were created by members under the guidance of Stella Heritage. During the evening Stella also showed the method of folding old books into hedgehogs, little houses and even angels. Everyone was delighted to take their eggs home.

Milwich W I will be supporting the Duck Race on Saturday July 21st during the afternoon with a Tombola and Stall. Look forward to seeing you there.

Please note

The August meeting will now take place on Wednesday August 15th at 7.30pm  at the All Saints Village Hall when everyone – members, partners and friends will be welcomed to an evening for a “Cuppa for Care” – this is to support Katherine Hospice for all their care – there will also be cakes and a raffle. Please support us!

September is for those with an interest in “Sweets” as Mr Simms from Eccleshall will be talking on the subject when there will be tasty treats for all.

Visitors are always welcome to very happy and interesting meetings held on the second Wednesday of the month. For further information please ring Helen Hocknell on 01889 505717.

Milwich & District Produce Guild

In June, we welcomed Mr. Geoff Bates, who gave us a brilliant slide show and talk on “Herbaceous Plants and Borders”.  We visited, on screen, several well known national gardens, showing the splendour of their colourful borders and gardens.

Our August meeting on the 23rd will be a talk on “The Great Wall of China for Parkinsons,” by Mrs. Margaret Bullock.  –  Sounds intriguing.

On September 27th, we welcome Mr. Bryon Lewis, whose talk is entitled   “Autumn Plant Showcase”. – An evening to look forward to.

Our meetings are usually held on the fourth Thursday of the month, at All Saints’ Village Hall, beginning at 8pm.  Visitors always welcome, there is no charge, but we do have a raffle.

For further information, please contact Mike Baggaley on 01889 270161, or m_baggaley@btinternet.com

Pre-School Newsletter

WOW, can’t quite believe we are already at the end of another school year, and how time flies when you’re having fun. We have had a very busy year and the last half term definitely hasn’t been an exception. Everybody that attended the summer trip this year to the Emma Bridgewater factory had a wonderful day. We all learnt about the history of pottery at the factory and saw how it was made, before designing and painting our own plates, and what wonderful plates we produced. Both staff and Visitors to the factory complimented all the children on their behaviour, which again was impeccable, it really does make the staff proud when we can pass compliments like this on the children’s parents.

Preschool graduation was again an emotional time for pupils, parents and staff, it never gets any easier saying goodbye, but it’s also a day to celebrate the closing of one chapter and the beginning of a new one. We hope you all enjoyed the day, Good luck and best wishes to all the children who will be moving on to big school in September, you will all be fantastic.

It is also a new chapter in preschool and Lollipops wraparound care’s history, as in September we become fully integrated in the school and go from being a charity run preschool to a governor led preschool. This is a great step forward for the future of the preschool giving us more stability and security, as well as being able access lots of new and different sources to enhance the curriculum. A big thank you must go to Mrs Wilson who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this happen.

Last but by no means least a HUGE thank you must go to all the Green Lea staff, preschool/Lollipops parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, friend and the wider local community for all their unwavering support again this year, we really do appreciate everything you do for preschool and Lollipops wraparound care. Thank you to the staff whose dedication and commitment makes preschool the wonderful, caring and fun place it is. They always go above and beyond and I know that preschool and Lollipops means more to them than just a job, which was shown recently when staff Claire and Andrea took on the 3 preschool challenge (Stone raft race, climbed up and down Snowdon and the fastest zip wire in Europe) and I am delighted to say they completed it, raising at the moment nearly £600. Well done ladies, preschool is so proud of you, if you haven’t already sponsored them, there is still time – please see a member of staff to do so. Keep your eyes peeled for the next challenge!! And finally a BIG thank you to all the children who attend preschool, you really are all fabulous.

Which just leaves me to say have a wonderful summer break, stay safe, have fun and see you in September. (Tuesday 4th 2018 term starts)

Pre-school will be offering the 30 hours funding from September (subject to criteria). Please see a member of staff for more details.

Milwich Pre-school is now open 5 days a week (subject to numbers), Monday – Friday. Sessions are 9:00am – 1:30pm or 9:00am – 3:00pm. Also available lollipops wraparound care.
