Milwich W I Report       June 2018

91st Birthday Meal

Delicious evening meals were enjoyed by members, husbands and friends at Riverside Restaurant, Stafford College. There was a choice for each course and the students, under the guidance of their Restaurant Manager, cooked, presented and served excellent meals. As it was the  last evening service of the year for the students, everyone was happy and members wished them well.

Stella Heritage will be demonstrating Crafts and presumably members will take part at the meeting on July 11th 2018 being held at All Saints Village Hall, Milwich at 7.30pm.

On July 21st at the Milwich Music Festival and Duck Race the Milwich WI will be joining in the fun with a Tombola and Stall.

For further information please ring Helen Hocknell on 01889 505717 or May Yates on 01889 505518.

Milwich & District Produce Guild.

Our May meeting was a visit to the gardens of Fiona Horwath and Carol Shanahan, at 22 & 29 St John’s Road, Stafford.  Thirteen members spent a very enjoyable evening admiring the two beautiful gardens and afterwards, enjoying the very welcome tea and cakes.

Our next trip will be on July 26th, when we meet up with Derek Higgott at the Secret Garden, in Little Haywood.

On 23rd August, we welcome Mrs. Margaret Bullock, whose talk entitled “The Great Wall of China for Parkinsons”  sounds fascinating.

Our meetings are usually held at Milwich village hall on the fourth Thursday of each month, beginning at 8.00pm.  For further information, please contact Mike Baggaley on 01889 270161 or m_baggaley@btinternet.com

Pre-School Newsletter

Wow, cannot quite believe we are into our last half-term of the school year. We have had a busy, but amazing year and the last half-term will be no different. The Pre-School children joined Green Lea children for the annual sports day. All the children tried their hardest and the sportsmanship that was showed by everybody was incredible. Everybody cheered and supported each other, and all the children were extremely well behaved. Both School and Pre-School staff were very proud, well done everyone.

The Pre-School children who attended the annual summer trip to Emma Bridgewater thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We had a tour of the factory to see how the pottery is made. We then got creative painting our plates before enjoying a lovely afternoon lunch. We cannot wait to collect our finished pieces and see the results. The staff at Emma Bridgewater were very complimentary on the behaviour of all the children considering their ages, so again well done all.

Preparations for the Pre-School graduation are underway. This year’s graduation ceremony will be held at Green Lea School on the 13th of July 2018, starting at 2 p.m. prompt. We are all looking forward to giving our older children a great send-off as they take on their next adventure at big school. It is always an emotional time, but all the staff and children want to wish all of them the very best of luck as they continue their educational journey.

This year’s Green Lea Summer Fair will be a little bit different as we are having the premier showing of Green Lea School’s very own film. This is a ticket only event, please contact the school for details regarding tickets etc. The summer fair is open to all, starting at 5 p.m. on the 6th of July 2018. So please come along and enjoy all the fun of the fair.

And finally, Claire and Andrea have challenged themselves to what they are calling ‘The Three Pre-School Challenge’. The ladies have already completed the first challenge which was competing in the Stone Carnival Raft Race where they came a commendable 6th place. However, the next two challenges are going to really push the ladies out of their comfort zone as they are climbing Mt. Snowdon and doing the fastest zip-line in the world. And as both are not great with heights, it could be interesting! But please if you could spare a few pennies and support the girls by donating it would be very much appreciated. Donations can be made direct to Green Lea, Pre-School or the ladies personally. It is also possible to donate via the go-fund me page ‘The Three Pre-School Challenge’. All money raised will be going to Pre-School and Lollipops Wrap-around Care to provide much needed equipment, especially more in the forest school area.

Pre-School is offering the 30 hours funding (subject to criteria). We are also signed up to the tax-free child care scheme, please see a member of staff for much information.

Pre-School runs Monday-Friday, sessions are 9.00 a.m. – 1.30 p.m. or 9.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m. Lollipops Wrap-around care sessions are 7.30 a.m. – 9.00 p.m. and/or 3.00 p.m. 5.45 p.m. (term time only). For any further information please contact 07974 719522
