Milwich and District Produce Guild
On April 26th, we welcomed Dean Williams, who gave members an insight into the work involved in Help for Heroes.
Dean spent 27 years in the Army and highlighted the many problems many injured military personnel face when trying to adjust to normal everyday life.
He stressed how important the fund-raising events were, to provide help and assistance in many forms, such as specialised training and equipment, financial help, and everyday care.
On June 28th, we have a return visit from Geoff Bates, who will talk on Herbaceous Plants and Borders.
Our meetings are usually held in the Village Hall, on the fourth Thursday of the month, beginning at 8pm.

Milwich W I Report May 2018
“Come and Join us” was the theme of our Annual meeting. Milwich WI has been part of the Community for 91 years, members have encouraged children at Green Lea School in “old fashioned” craft such as knitting, embroidering, lace making and weaving over the last 15 years. Every Christmas, since 1927, the WI has provided a lunch for the children and teachers before their party. There have been Pantomimes (not always professional but great fun), evenings out at restaurants and even a display of Calendar Girls! The WI evenings are fun with good speakers, a friendly atmosphere and plenty of chat. More members are needed with enthusiasm to carry on the tradition.
A few changes for the Committee took place, Sue Lloyd was thanked for all her hard work as President as she stood down, her position being taken over jointly by Helen Hocknell and Mary Allen. Elaine Hodson has stepped down as Treasurer, after many years of keeping the finance in order and doing a wonderful job, Sonia Boughey is now the new Treasurer and Theresa Allen has offered to be Minute Secretary.
Helen Mancy, W I advisor, joined us to explain the Resolution which is to be discussed at the National Annual Meeting – this year being the Mental Health issues and how the Government can further help. Members decided to give a discretionary vote to the representative, as this is a difficult issue.
On June 13th members are meeting at Stafford College for a Birthday Meal.
Visitors are always welcome to very happy and interesting meetings held on the second Wednesday of the month. For further information please ring Helen Hocknell on 01889 505717 or May Yates, who remains as secretary and doing a wonderful job, on 01889 505518.
Pre-School Newsletter
All at preschool had a lovely time celebrating the royal wedding, we made crowns from flowers and leaves for our forest school activity and had a royal tea party for snack, all the children really got into the spirit and came dressed in red, white and blue or as princes and princesses. This half term our theme will be “friendships” we will be looking back at the wonderful friends we have made at preschool, and how we can build new positive relationships, especially with the older children who will be going into school in September. We will also be touching on how we can be a good friend and help people who are struggling, also how important being kind to others is. Our plans are in full swing for both the annual summer trip, which is looking mostly likely be to paint a pot at Emma Bridgewater and also our fantastic graduation ceremony.
As most of our community know preschool staff Claire and Andrea have competed in the Stone carnival raft race for the last 3 years to help raise must needed funds for the charity run preschool, and this year the girls have decided to go BIGGER!!! They will be doing what they are calling “The 3 Preschool Challenge” which will consist of the raft race, climbing Snowdon and then doing the “Longest Zip Wire in Wales.” Please support the girls and sponsor them, even pennies make a massive difference.
Milwich preschool offers the 30 hours funding (subject to criteria). We are also signed up to the tax free child care scheme, please see a member of staff for more information.
Preschool runs Monday-Friday, sessions are 9.00am-1.30pm or 9.00am-3.00pm. Lollipops wraparound care sessions are 7.30am-9.00am and/or 3.00pm-5.45pm (term time only) For any further information please contact 07974 719522.
