Milwich W I  Report                                                              January 2018

Christmas preparations began at the December meeting when Lynn Eaton once again encouraged members to create a Christmas decoration, a “Snowman”.  Everyone completed the task very successfully and were very pleased with the result. Refreshments were “bring and share” which were enjoyed with a glass of mulled wine! We all wished each other season’s greetings and a safe journey home, however when we left the Village Hall we found at least 4” of snow! Everyone did arrive home safely if somewhat slowly.

January is traditionally a members’ evening, and certainly we were not disappointed. There were a number of anecdotes – some a little bit naughty, one recalling school life in the 1950’s which brought back many  memories(how life has changed), another describing the W I – known then as the “Institute” – during the World War 1 and how members could help the war effort, one suggestion being that ladies should skin rabbits and use the skins to make gloves. One of the members brought her beautiful quilts which she had made, and the evening finished with four members singing to the tune “All things Bright and Beautiful” a song called “Four Girls, Bright and Beautiful, looking for a Man”. Members enjoyed a good laugh in a very relaxed atmosphere.

Members look forward to welcoming Katie Hill, who will talk about the work of a Paramedic on February 14th at 7.30pm at All Saints Village Hall.

Visitors are always welcome to very happy and interesting meetings held on the second Wednesday of the month. For further information please ring Sue Lloyd on 01889 505470 or May Yates on 01889 505518

All at preschool would like to welcome our two new children that started with us at the beginning of term, and have settled in fantastically, as have all our returning children after the Christmas break, we have had lots of lovely Christmas memories shared at circle time.

This term we have been looking at “people who help us” we have lots of activities planned as well as visitors from our local and preschool community, We have a parent who will be visiting us to tell us all about her work at the dentist, an Aunt who will be telling us what its like to be a paramedic and how they can help us, and what we can do in an emergency.  Our hairdressers role play area is proving very popular, and we must say a big thank you to our local hairstylist  Lynne Pamment who donated lots of equipment for our preschool salon. if there are any other members of the local community that would like to come and tell us how they help us and others, please get in touch to arrange a visit.

We have lots of fun and exciting plans to fill the coming year, and preschool will be sharing these with you all through the Compass magazine every month, so keep checking back throughout the year to see what we are all up to.

Preschool is offering the 30 hours funding (subject to criteria). We are also signed up to the tax free child care scheme, please see a member of staff for more information.

Preschool runs Monday-Friday, sessions are 9.00am-1.30pm or 9.00am-3.00pm. Lollipops wraparound care sessions are 7.30am-9.00am and/or 3.00pm-5.45pm (term time only) for any further information please contact  07974 719522.
